Who is Dave Hibbard?

Dave Hibbard – Trumpet: Leader of the Dave Hibbard. Dave is a versatile musician performing with a variety of groups and genres, locally and nationally.

Dave moved to the Chicago area in 2003 after retiring as the chairman of the innovative and prestigious Commercial Music Program at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. In addition to being a superb jazz trumpeter, Dave is also a composer, author and music industry consultant with many jazz and brass ensemble compositions to his credit. A native of upstate New York, Dave began performing while in high school at Catskill Mountains resorts. He has performed in many different genres including:; show bands; pit orchestras; opera and symphony orchestra; chamber ensembles; as well as a jazz soloist. Dave has been fortunate to appear, tour or record with many jazz greats including: Slam Stewart, Red Garland;  and Urbie Green among many others.

Dave has worked as a performer/composer /arranger in New York, Dallas, Houston, Austin and Waco (for Word Records) markets working in television and broadcast advertising. He was the producer and musical director for: LOVE THAT JAZZ – a series of four thirty minute shows for KCEN-TV-Waco and for the TEXAS SWING FESTIVAL – an annual two day festival presenting bands performing the music based on the style of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. Dave has composed scores for industrial films, combo charts for high school, college and professional groups as well as incidental music for dramatic productions.1976 to present

Dave is an adjunct professor of Music at the College of Lake County, where he directs the Tuesday night Big band and he teaches applied Trumpet and music history classes.
